Fifteen years ago the Minnesota Department of Transportation wrapped more than 70 trees with hardware cloth to prevent the saplings from being damaged by industrial lawn mowers. Now, years later, the trees are being strangled by the long forgotten containment. In a gesture of interspecies solidarity thirty people came out to the west side buffer of Shoreham Yards in NE Minneapolis to cut and free the multiple species of trees who survive in already severe conditions.
